History:
In July 1975, BMW introduced the first series of the 3 Series (E21) following the 0 Series. It featured a more elegant, rear spacious two-door body; a four-door version was never produced.
The sedans, stylistically aligned with the 5 Series (from 1972), looked very appealing - they gained stature and prestige compared to the 0 Series predecessors.
They were accepted by a large customer base - the BMW image shone again in new glory.
From late 1977 to 1982, the body manufacturer Baur (Stuttgart) converted 3 Series sedans into so-called hardtop convertibles. They had a removable roof section made of plastic between the windshield and the rollover bar, and a folding roof over the rear seat.
The conversion cost over 6,000 DM at the time. Baur delivered around 4,600 hardtop convertibles within the E21 series - they were sold by BMW.
Vehicle Description:
This BMW 320/6 Baur TopCabrio1 (TC1) has original 94,786 km on the clock and is in very good condition both technically and visually.
The 40 years of age since first registration is definitely not noticeable. Especially the interior, kept in nearly perfect original condition (and not modified or renewed), is worth several looks.
For the first 27 years, the TC1 was allowed to cruise the roads of southern France. In 2008, it cameto Northern Germany
and was repainted in 2011 (original color). It was also completely overhauled technically.
The existing vehicle documents show
the operating or additional instructions, the original (stamped)
service booklet, a Baur TC1 brochure, an order card, and a folder with many service, repair, and inspection
invoices.
Connoisseurs of the first 3 Series know that especially
the 6-cylinder models have been very popular in recent years. With
this one, the five-speed gearbox and the most versatile type of
open driving are added as a bonus.
