Alfa Romeo 2600 Touring Spider

The large Alfa Romeo Cabriolet with its fantastic 2.6 liter engine with 6 cylinders was simply a sensation when it was first introduced in 1962. Orazio Puglia, a visionary and great Alfa Romeo engine designer, designed a completely new engine, heavily based on his brilliant Giulietta design with two overhead camshafts. The new 2.6-liter engine also features an aluminum block with wet liners, a seven-bearing crankshaft, and produces 145 hp thanks to three Solex double carburetors in the Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider. From the end of 1963, the large Alfa Romeos also received servo-assisted disc brakes all around. The body department Touring developed a stunning sheet metal body for this perfectly shaped Cabriolet. The chassis is more focused on comfort than on unconditional sportiness. Even tall drivers can easily get in and sit comfortably on the wide seats. The beautiful round instruments, of which the two larger ones in the center display speed and rpm, and the smaller ones on the right and left show water and oil temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level, complete the excellent appearance. The spacious trunk offers enough space for a nice vacation trip with 2 people.

This Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider was built in a total of 2,255 units built. This vehicle offered here is the last built Cabriolet from this series, the 2600 Spider. The engine is the correct engine from this series. This Alfa Romeo was first delivered to the USA in 1965 and already arrived in Germany in 1981. A doctor from Westphalia (D) imported it and had it extensively restored in 1995 (photographic documentation available). It was only sold to its second German owner in 2014. He invested over €30,000 again in optimizing the vehicle, so it still presents itself today in a very dignified and beautiful condition.
