History

Inspired by the floating elegance of a roach, the Sting Ray Corvette was designed by hobby deep-sea fisherman and GM chief designer Bill Mitchell, as well as designer Larry Shinoda. They bid farewell to the pompous 1950s lines of the predecessor model and presented an aggressive sports car outfit that has a similarly stunning effect as the Jaguar E-Type introduced shortly before. The sporty emphasized design was further enhanced by the modern pop-up headlights of the time. The new Corvette was available as both a convertible and a coupe with a divided rear window. In addition to increased displacement (up to 7 liters), the chassis was also revised. With rear independent suspension and disc brakes, the Corvette was now better controllable even in sporty curves. The cockpit exudes a European-inspired sportiness. Driver and passenger sit in snugly fitted seats, with large instruments displaying all essential data. Naturally, the right hand falls on the ball of the short gear shift, which moves smoothly through the four-speed transmission's gate. Equipped with these attributes, the Sting Ray made a splash upon its presentation, like a bomb.

Features of this offered Sting Ray

Our Sting Ray was first registered in the USA in 1964. The number of previous owners in the USA could not be fully clarified. We suspect there were only 2 previous owners. In 2012, this Sting Ray was restored by a Corvette specialist in the USA with a "frame-off" restoration and received a newly built Big Block engine with 7 liters displacement during the restoration. Additionally, a refurbished Tremec transmission, ceramic-coated parts, Headers, Edelbrock intake manifold, Holley carburetor, aluminum valve cover, Concept 1 power steering pump, aluminum radiator, brake force adjustment, new tires installed, as well as a complete overhaul of the suspension, the entire body repainted, interior renovated, new carpets laid, and a new soft top mounted. Also on board are the optional alloy wheels with central locking. 544 Nm press on the reinforced crankshaft and require a very sensitive throttle foot; otherwise, the wheels will inevitably spin even in third gear. Just starting the engine causes goosebumps. The sound experience is simply indescribable. Mucho macho drama ignites this stinging ray, which the legendary car journalist Fritz B. Busch described as follows: "Drive at night with a Sting Ray over the Via Veneto in Rome. And you'll get an idea of how many girls have time for you." The thought might be considered sexist today. But the Sting Ray, in any case, also. In 2013, a Corvette specialist in England sold us into a significant collection in Germany. The German collector has driven this Corvette a maximum of 1000 km since then. Maintenance and upcoming TÜV preparations were carried out by us during this time. Now, this very well-maintained, almost new Sting Ray convertible is back on the market due to a collection reorganization. A convertible should actually require a gun license.
