The XJS V12 Cabriolet :

Only after the anti-convertible law in Washington was taken off the table and under
Jaguar's new brand boss John Egan after 1980, the dark clouds over
Browns Lane cleared, the XJ-S could reveal itself –
gradually, initially as a semi-open Targa in the style of the Triumph
Stag, then in 1988 as a true Cabriolet. Or, to follow the internal
terminology: as a Convertible.
When the crankshaft rotates 2,500 times per minute in its bearings, the V12
already tours at high speed. The 5.3-liter short-stroke engine is a comfortable salon lion,
not an aggressive predator. It cuddles intimately with the gentle
three-speed automatic, serving acceleration with haughty
nonchalance. The word "Waftability" aptly captures its essence, a term from sailing,
describing the ability of noble yachts to effortlessly gain speed once the wind fills the sails.
This much serenity inevitably also transfers to the driver.
Even hotheads become harmony-seeking cavaliers at the Jaguar steering wheel.
