This BMW 600 was first registered on January 22, 1959, and is the larger sibling of the iconic Isetta. With its twin-cylinder engine and distinctive body shape, it is considered a remarkable collector’s item in the history of microcars.
The BMW 600 was developed from the Isetta by Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW). Like the Isetta, it features a large front door, but also an additional side door for practicality. Its engine concept comes directly from BMW’s proven motorcycle boxer engine. Built only from September 1957 to November 1959, production was very short. Marketed as a budget-friendly alternative to a full-size car, many examples were used extensively, worn out, and discarded – making surviving cars extremely rare today.
This example is in need of restoration and represents an attractive project for enthusiasts looking for a rare microcar with future potential.
