Natsumi is a wonderful example of one of our restored Andrews Slipper Launches.
At Andrews Boathouses we carefully select and acquire Slipper Launches that we then put through our own rigorous restoration process. The damaged and unsound planking is carefully stripped away and replaced with selected timbers that have been aged for at least two years.

From the keel up we restore the hull using the best woods and modern caulking to ensure the integrity of the hull. The hull is made sound and painted in the new owner’s choice of colour and of course the trademark blue and gold pinstripe is always added before finally finished. For the interior trim the new owner can select from a wide range of specialist marine facings, up to and including, leather trimmed bench seats with contrasting piping to match the colour of the hull.

For the deck we can either restore it to its original design, as in this case, or we can introduce beautiful alternatives for the new owner, such as a Pale Yellow Obeche or a Golden Iroko to partner with the traditional Mahogany or Sapele to create the classic ‘strawberries and cream’ look. The new owner has the opportunity to create something truly unique and outstanding to match their personal taste and character..

The Morris Vedette engine is fully rebuilt by Morris minor experts Tom Roy and includes a hidden electronic ignition in the original casings. The engine and gearbox are then finished to showroom standard and refitted into the hull.

• Decks, Hull and sides stripped.
• Repairs to deck and hull completed.
• Bilges scraped back to bare wood, cleaned and painted with 3 coats of grey bilge paint.
• Running gear and steering removed, rebuilt and re-packed.
• Hydraulic steering fitted and original column retained with new Bluemels Brooklands steering wheel.
• A full rewire with top quality marine wire and fuse boxes.
• New custom made Smiths gauges fitted, includes fuel, rev counter, oil pressure, temperature and clock.
• Custom made chrome plated switch panel, laser engraved highlighting the functions.
• Original BMC Vedette 950 cc engine fully rebuilt, including hidden electric ignition in original case and new dynamator (alternator) in a classic car dynamo case.
• Gearbox rebuilt with all new bearings and seals.
• New exhaust system fitted with a CNC machined stainless steel finisher on the stern.
• Decks varnished with 16 coats of Awlwood varnish, wet sanded and machine polished to a mirrored finish. Each coat is applied then sanded smooth before the next coat is applied to get that deep lustrous look that defines boats of this era.
• The original navigator lights have been stripped back and triple chrome plated.
• Two removeable Bang and Olufsen marine Bluetooth speakers, and ambient LED lighting, are hidden in the hull along with USB charging points.
• A removeable 240/12v cooler is hidden under the bench.
• New brass chrome plated rub rail has been fitted with chamfered edges to give a seamless appearance.
• All screws used on the boat are brass and individually chrome plated to reduce the risk of staining in the wood and enhancing the look of the boat.
• The cockpit has a brand new Robbins marine sole floor and again 16 coats of Awlwood varnish has been applied.
• The seating is 2 bench seats in cream marine fabric with Mulliner style box stitching with blue contrast piping.
• The boat comes with 2 navy blue Andrews umbrellas that are kept in ‘Rolls Royce’ style stainless steel holders, these are slanted into the engine room with drain holes to allow the umbrellas to dry out. They are accessed as per a Rolls Royce by gently pushing down and they pop out enough to be removed by the handle.
• All of our boats come with a security tracker that is monitored by an app on the owner’s phone, 4 life jackets, a full set of dock lines colour matched, 6 fenders, An Andrews picnic hamper, 4 cut Crystal Andrews glasses, 2 baseball caps and 2 gilets for the new owners.
