Dufour 425 Grand Large

Remarks:

This 2008 Dufour 425 Grand Large is a one owner boat from new. She has been meticulously well maintained and has been laid up ashore every winter. She is powered by a well maintained Volvo 55hp diesel engine with 1733 engine hours and a 2021 saildrive seal. Her layout consists of twin aft cabins, saloon, galley, owners cabin forward and two heads. Her inventory includes, retractable bow thruster, fully battened mainsail with single line reefing, lazy bag, furling genoa, electric windlass, chart plotter, heating and a lot more. "Elusive" is in excellent condition and viewing is recommended.

Interior:

All joinery work is finished in prime choice Moabi mahogany, with fiddles, mouldings and framings in solid wood.

Soles are in Moabi laminated floor boards.

Saloon cushions and mattress fabrics have removable covers. The upper cabin linings are in Moabi wood, the bottom in cream coloured vinyl.

Sliding companionway hatch and washboards in Plexiglass.

Curved wooden steps and access to engine by lifting step case on jacks.

Galley:

Linear galley to port with corian worktop and double stainless steel sinks.

Pressurised hot and cold water.

Sea water foot pump.

Tree burner stove with oven and grill (gimbaled).

Plenty of storage for extended cruising.

Aft Cabins:

Twin aft cabins with large double berths, shelving, hanging lockers, opening ports and engine access.

Navigation Station:

Located opposite the aft head to starboard with a large forward facing chart table, navigator's seat with stowage underneath, instrument panels for both DC and AC along with Nav Instruments.

Dinettes:

U-shaped settee to starboard opposite the galley, saloon table can drop to a double berth (never used), central fixed settee with stowage underneath and even more stowage under the settee along with lockers. Curtains and opening hatches. Blue suede in saloon.

Owners/Forward Cabin:

Large Island berth, opening deck hatch, two fixed hull ports, shelving, hanging locker, en-suite complete with shower, heads, wash hand basin and electric shower sump pump.

Hand laminated GRP hull.

The NPG gelcoat [the first layer of cloth is impregnated with NPG resin) forms an optimum barrier against osmosis.

Inner moulded hull bottom, structural grid laminated to the hull. Hull portlights in the saloon. Deck in Balsa core sandwich, made by Infusion process.

Cast iron keel.

Semi-elliptical rudder, filled with closed cell epoxy foam. Stainless steel, solid stock.

Sails, Rigging and Spars:

Anodised aluminium mast with double swept backed spreaders, rigged 15/16, deck stepped.

Anchor and steaming lights. Boom topping lift cleat. Anodised aluminium boom equipped with two single line reefing system.

Genoa furler.

Grounded rigging system.

Single stainless steel chainplate for cap shrouds/aft lower shrouds.

In June 2021 the mast and rigging were removed, inspected, a new furling drum installed and stepped. This work was carried out by Custom Rigging. A copy of their report is available.

Very good ventilation is ensured by 8 x deck hatches with integrated ventilators, four opening port-lights on roof with curtains, permanent ventilation with two aerators, «mushroom» models. Two hull port-lights as well as four fixed port-lights add to the saloon's natural brightness.

"Elusive" has really looked after us from new but unfortunately the time has come for us to retire from sailing, hence the reason for selling. Every year she has been launched in late April and hauled back out in late August or early September, giving a typical sailing season of about 19 weeks.

"Elusive" is a fine solid no nonsense, cruising yacht and viewing is highly recommended.
