Koopmans 50 Horizon

Superior Dutch-built aluminum Koopmans 50, designed by the renowned Dick Koopmans Sr. A major refit in 2022 and ideally suited for a dream cruise!

Built in 1990, launched in 1992, and purchased in 2015 by the last owner from Valk Yachtbrokers in Hindeloopen. Since then, many modifications and upgrades have been made, including:

• 3 x 250 AH batteries (Gel)
• New Victron battery charger
• New Webasto boiler
• New Raymarine plotter including radar and AIS
• Windvane steering
• New genoa, including new furlex system (via Sailselect, Uithoorn)
• New Tikikat inflatable boat, with Mercury 6 hp

In 2021/2022, "HORIZON" underwent a complete refit at Jachtwerf Brouwershaven to prepare her for full liveaboard use. The total investment was over €100,000. In short, the work included the following:

• The hull has been completely redone, including the addition of several new patches to maintain a full 8 mm thickness all around. At the same time, new TruDesign skin fittings/sealers were installed. A complete repainting was done, and additional and new anodes were installed.
• Engine water cooler overhaul, full inspection, dual filters installed.
• Teak deck removed, replaced with beautiful and maintenance-free Flexiteak
• Keel lift modified with electric hydraulic lift (was manual hydraulic)
• Windows renewed, new screens inside
• Travelers renewed, all shots & traps replaced
• New bimini and mudguards
• Epirb
• Starlink
• Life raft
• Rocna 40 Anchor

In 2023 the ship was registered (Dutch flag), she was branded and microdots were applied to the ship.

Fresh antifouling was applied in 2024, and a new anchor winch (Lofrans 1700) was installed at that time, including a remote control with a counter.

The boat is equipped with many spare parts, including a brand new propeller!

The "HORIZON" is a beautiful and classic Koopmans design, in near-new condition, with many upgrades. Her unique positive transom, modified by the previous owner, gives her much more outdoor living space. She sails beautifully; no sea is too high, no wind too strong. She was the faithful companion for almost 10 years and, for the last three years, partly the previous owner's home.
