The 2022–2023 Golden Globe Race victory of Kirsten Neuschäfer aboard the Cape George 36, Minnehaha is one of the most significant endurance feats in modern maritime history. Kirsten went for the Cape George 36 specifically for its "freight train" characteristics.

• The Heavy-Weather Hammer: The Cape George is nearly 7,000 lbs heavier than the Rustler 36. In the massive, breaking seas of the Southern Ocean, that extra mass provided a level of safety and momentum that lighter boats lacked. Where other boats were being tossed, Minnehaha powered through.

• The "Power" of the Cutter Rig: Kirsten utilized the versatile cutter rig to keep the boat balanced. By using a smaller staysail and a reefed main, she could keep the center of effort low and centered, allowing the boat to maintain 7-knot averages in conditions that forced other sailors to heave-to.

• Strength of Construction: The Cape George 36 is famously overbuilt. The hull-to-deck joint and the massive scantlings meant that when the boat took "green water" over the bow, it didn't flex. This rigidity is a hallmark of Cecil Lange’s building philosophy in Port Townsend.
