In 1973, the "Megasonic" and "Megaquartz" models were launched at the Basel World Fair.

The MegaSonic 720Hz is an exclusive Omega movement and, at the time, featured the smoothest-running seconds hand of all time. It was designed by Max Hetzel, creator of the first tuning fork watch (the Bulova Accutron).
